![]() Representatives from U.S. Curling Association are coming to Richmond to offer a workshop to train future curling instructors. Participants from New Jersey to South Carolina – including 14 future instructors from the Curling Club of Virginia— will receive training to help beginner curlers play the game and improve basic skills. This is the first time the national curling organization has held a course in Virginia. Since the Winter Olympics, the Curling Club of Virginia has taught more than 500 Virginia residents during one of the Club’s many new curler events. The U.S. is one of the top five curling nations in the world, with close to 16,000 curlers in 165 clubs across the U.S. in 40 states. The East Coast is home to the second largest curling region, with nearly 4,000 curlers. The Curling Club of Virginia is a non-profit, volunteer organization aimed at providing curling opportunities to the Richmond area. Founded in 2011 by area curlers and curling enthusiasts, the Club is the state’s only curling club and strives to promote, support and grow the sport of curling in Virginia.
